2022-02-14T07:46:58+01:00

Our Middle East Ambassador Rony Karam from Lebanon has been instrumental for making two countries in the Arabian peninsula a member of the FIVA Family this year: Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The first Formula 1 Grand Prix in Jeddah, on 5 December, a historic event by itself, was a good occasion to handover the FIVA flag and the FIVA 50 Year Jubilee book to the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation in the person of SAMF’s CEO mr Sattam Al  Hozami and of Dr Nasser Al Masary. Dr Al Masary is the initiator and organizer of the Diryah Festival, which is [...]

2022-01-24T12:36:54+01:00

Protecting our mobile heritage in a net-zero future At a time when climate change and the need for clean air are of huge global concern, FIVA (the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens or international federation of historic vehicles) has agreed on a powerful new strategy at its annual General Assembly, held online on 20th November from Munich, Germany. “FIVA’s new strategy shows support for the commitments arising from the Glasgow climate summit, but also aims to protect the vital cultural importance of the historic vehicle movement,” says FIVA president Tiddo Bresters. “These two aims are in no way contradictory.” FIVA fully supports [...]

Message from the FIVA President

2022-01-17T13:31:28+01:00

Vacation time is here, with motorways, autobahnen, autoroutes, autostrade, and autopistas once again busy at weekends. Happily, there are more travel options than in Summer 2020, and cars and motorcycles are clearly the preferred means of holiday transport because – with the virus still around – they bring the least hassle. The camper, in particular, is proving more popular than ever, offering lots of freedom to young and old. Meanwhile, club meetings and events are starting to re-emerge, with interest in historic vehicles clearly undiminished. All this gives us, the FIVA General Committee, sufficient inspiration to face the future with [...]

Earth is a nicer place with motoring heritage!

2022-01-15T08:30:52+01:00

The Netherlands Historic cars, motorcycles, and other motorized vehicles are the best time machines one can imagine. They show the design and technique of their era, and when on the move the back-in-time experience is complete. Their preservation is sustainability in the truest sense. They survived, while nearly all peers ended long ago as waste. Treating a product with care, even when it is a popular mass-produced car or motorbike, is environment friendly because it helps to reduce the over-exploitation of our Earth. FIVA represents what was produced at least 30 years ago, and so demonstrates the developments in [...]

FIVA Culture & Youth Commission and the Youth Working Group

2022-01-17T13:40:29+01:00

As there was not enough time during the General Assembly in November 2020 to present the group behind the projects such as “FIVA Celebrates the International Youth Day,” the “30 under 30,” and others that are being prepared this year, we are taking this opportunity to do so. This group consists of young enthusiasts from all over the world, young people by age or mind, not preoccupied with club or association politics or their status, all joined together by their passion for historic vehicles and history. “I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for being [...]
