Working Industrial & Mobile Heritage Platform (Wimh)

About two years ago a group of representatives of Industrial Heritage organizations joined their forces for the sake of awareness of the importance and attractivity of this sector, to address common problems, especially regarding future use of fossil fuels, skills transfer and inclusion of younger generations. We have joined forces to become stronger, gain greater recognition, and raise awareness among Members of the European Parliament and the general public.

Main areas of focus are:

EU Support for Heritage Preservation: We urge the European Union to commit to creating the conditions necessary to preserve and present our industrial and mobile heritage in working condition. This includes ensuring the availability and use of raw materials required for this purpose.
Availability of Heritage Fossil Fuels: The continued and limited availability of a very small but vital supply of fossil fuels, like coal and oil derivatives, is essential for the operation of heritage machines and vehicles. Despite their limited use, these fuels are necessary to maintain the dynamics of heritage preservation without significant environmental impact, aligning with the Green Deal and emissions reduction targets.
Educational Programs and Public-Private Partnerships: It is in the interest of European society to guarantee the transfer of knowledge and expertise linked to this heritage to future generations. We advocate for the establishment of a European public-private partnership to support educational programs and promotional activities related to our working and industrial heritage.
