Our Middle East Ambassador Rony Karam from Lebanon has been instrumental for making two countries in the Arabian peninsula a member of the FIVA Family this year: Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The first Formula 1 Grand Prix in Jeddah, on 5 December, a historic event by itself, was a good occasion to handover the FIVA flag and the FIVA 50 Year Jubilee book to the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation in the person of SAMF’s CEO mr Sattam Al  Hozami and of Dr Nasser Al Masary. Dr Al Masary is the initiator and organizer of the Diryah Festival, which is since many years the most important classic car show of Saudi Arabia. For this he received one of the FIVA Culture Awards 2021, presented to him by FIVA President Tiddo Bresters.

The Saudi scene is developing well. At the Jeddah International Motor Show, the many classic cars displayed by one of SAMF’s most active collectors attracted at least as much interest as the many exclusive new cars that were displayed there.
