On Sunday, September 15th, the historic city of Terrassa in Barcelona played host to the 46th Ralli Internacional de Motos Historiques, the oldest active motorcycle rally in Spain. Organized by the MATHC (Escuderia Motor Atlètic Terrassa Hockey Club), this prestigious event has been a fixture in the motorcycle community since the club's founding in 1969.
The rally featured a 75 km route that wound through the stunning landscapes surrounding the San Lorenzo del Munt and Obac Natural Park. Participants began their journey at the Atlético facilities and concluded in Matadepera. The event was remarkable for the diversity of its participants, including female riders, several young enthusiasts, and a variety of rare and historic motorcycles that are seldom seen in such events. The rally adhered to the categories established by FIVA, ensuring a broad representation of motorcycles from various eras and brands, including New Map, Vespa, Lube, BSA, Gilera, Bultaco, OSSA, and Laverda.
A highlight of the event was the special tribute to Mr. Jaume Soler, a 93-year-old motorcycling veteran who remains active and passionate about riding. FEVA (Spanish Federation of Antique Vehicles), representing FIVA in Spain, honored Mr. Soler's contributions to the promotion, preservation, and protection of the two-wheeler sector. Mr. Enrique Castells, President of the FEVA Motorcycle Commission, presented Mr. Soler with a commemorative plaque in recognition of his lifelong dedication. The ceremony was deeply emotional, featuring a video that celebrated Mr. Soler’s illustrious career.
This year's rally held a special significance as part of the FIVA Motorcycle Week, an international campaign that links various events around the world to celebrate the heritage of historic motorcycles. As a recognized participant in this global initiative, the MATHC rally was distinguished by the distribution of the exclusive 2024 commemorative pins to all participants, symbolizing their role in this worldwide celebration.
FEVA is proud to include the MATHC event in this global chain of activities, highlighting the importance of preserving and honoring motorcycle history. The organization extends its gratitude to the entire MATHC team for their impeccable organization and commitment, making the rally a resounding success.
