The II Centenarians Rally was held in El Burgo de Osma, Soria province (Spain), from the 8th to the 10th of June. This unique event featured vehicles that are at least 100 years old.
The rally was organized by the FEDERACIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE VEHÍCULOS ANTIGUOS (FEVA), the FIVA representative in Spain. There were 38 entries for this rally, including 4 motorcycles. The event was conceived to bring the oldest vehicles back to the streets, vehicles that have limited opportunities to be driven due to their age. Therefore, it was necessary to organize an event where they could ride on asphalt under indispensable safety conditions. The FEVA Motorcycle Commission, with full support from the FEVA Board of Directors, successfully met this challenge.
On Saturday morning, June 8th, this prestigious group of vehicles gathered at Plaza de la Catedral in El Burgo de Osma. Notable among the participants were five Hispano-Suiza cars, including the 15/45 Alfonso XIII Carrera ex Zucarelli, two H6s, a Type 30, and an H6C.
The oldest entrant was a 1902 Renault Type G, which completed both days without any issues. Following closely in age were the 1907 Brush Runabout and the 1909 Hupmobile model 20.
Several cars in original condition, with only necessary mechanical restorations, proudly displayed their original paintwork or upholstery. This category was well represented by a 1916 Delahaye Type 87, a 1917 Overland Type 85, a 1918 Cadillac 57, and a beautiful 1924 Motosacoche.
In addition to these, there were vehicles from brands such as Sunbeam, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Fiat, Delage, Mercedes, Rolls-Royce, and motorcycles from Husqvarna, Triumph, BSA, and Motosacoche. There was also a significant representation of Ford Model Ts, which navigated a carefully planned route designed to avoid overexertion of their mechanics.
Notably, very young drivers, some in their twenties, managed these historic vehicles. Carla Martí drove her grandfather's Ford T without any issues, and Hernán Quintano handled the Hispano 15/45.
Participants came from all over Spain, from Mallorca to Galicia, Catalonia to Seville, and Asturias to Alicante, with representation from most of the country's regions.
A notable and pleasant addition to the rally was the participation of the DGT and the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, who joined with a Renault R10 from their collection. This vehicle not only completed the route without problems but also traveled on the road from Madrid to Burgo de Osma and back, demonstrating its excellent condition and aligning with FEVA's objectives of keeping historic vehicles roadworthy.
Saturday's route covered about 80 km, running from Burgo de Osma to the Monasterio de la Vid near Peñaranda de Duero, with an optional visit to this town, adding about 16 km. Upon returning to the town of origin, a Concours d'Elegance was planned, featuring a parade of all participants, though it was canceled due to heavy rain. The gala dinner was held in the evening at the Hotel Castilla Termal, where attendees exchanged impressions of the day and participated in a prize-giving ceremony. FEVA had planned to award special prizes for "parents and children" and "grandparents and grandchildren" who participated together.
On Sunday morning, a route of about 70 kilometers was planned to Berlanga de Duero, a town that offered lunch to participants and a visit to its numerous historical monuments.
Most participants concluded the rally after lunch, although the organizers offered the option of continuing on Monday with a more complex route from Burgo de Osma to the village of Calatañazor, another historic village in this beautiful region.
Overall, the rally was a success, and FEVA's efforts were clearly worthwhile. The organizers sincerely thank the Town Councils of Burgo de Osma and Berlanga de Duero, the Soria Provincial Council, and all the entities and companies that collaborated with FEVA. Special thanks go to the volunteers who ensured everything ran smoothly.
